2 Intelligence Company
2 Intelligence Company was established in 1993, during a period when the Canadian Armed Forces recognized the growing need for trained intelligence specialists within the Army Reserve. Created under the Intelligence Branch, the unit became responsible for generating reserve intelligence operators capable of supporting both domestic and expeditionary operations. Located primarily in Toronto, 2 Intelligence Company was designed to reinforce the analytical, security, and reconnaissance needs of 32 Canadian Brigade Group and other headquarters within the region.
From its earliest years, the company focused on developing core military intelligence skills including information collection, analysis, security investigations, and dissemination of operational assessments. As global conflicts evolved in the 1990s, members of 2 Intelligence Company began deploying on international missions, contributing to UN and NATO operations in the Balkans, Bosnia, and Croatia, where intelligence support played a key role in peacekeeping and conflict stabilization efforts.
Throughout the 2000s, the company expanded significantly as Canada increased its involvement in overseas operations. Its personnel deployed to the Middle East, Africa, and most notably to Afghanistan, where intelligence operators supported battle group headquarters, provincial reconstruction teams, and national-level intelligence structures. At home, the unit has provided support to domestic response efforts, security operations, and major Canadian events requiring intelligence analysis and threat assessments.
Today, 2 Intelligence Company continues to train soldiers in both tactical and operational intelligence, preparing them to integrate with regular force units and joint task forces. As part of the Canadian Army Reserve’s intelligence structure, the company remains essential to modern military decision-making, providing highly skilled analysts and intelligence operators to support missions in Canada and abroad.
